Toilets are something we use everyday, making sure they work properly is essential! While most toilets seem to be bulletproof, truth is they do not last forever. A lot of the times toilets are easily repaired, other times, you’ll need a replacement. Clogged toilets are not usually related to dysfunctional toilets, most of the time the problem is in your sewerline. On the otherhand, if your toilet leaks water or is not flushing at all, the problem is with the toilet. Regardless of the issue, our team at Plumber San Jose has the solution.

Tips to Troubleshoot Your Toilet

  • Check for Leaks: If your toilet is leaking, it’s important to identify where the leak is coming from. If the leak is coming from the base, you may just need to replace the wax ring and reset the toilet. If the leak is coming from the bottom of the tank, it could be as simple as tightening the supply line to the tank or the bolts that connect to the bowl. If there is an actual crack in the porcelain, you’re going to need a new toilet.
  • Water Leak Inside the Tank: If you are hearing the toilet running non stop, you are likley having an issue with your flush valve/fill valve. Majority of the time this is an easy fix and may just require some simple adjusting. Other times the fill valve needs replacing, which is also a simple job.
  • Miscellaneous items: If you toilet is making a gurgling sound, it could be various things but it surely will have to do with either water or air restrictions in the sewerline. Gurgling sounds in the toilet could be the result of an obstruction in the vent line, something wedged in the toilet or the sewerline, or a broken sewer vent line or sewerline

There are many issues that can take place with the toilets in your property, good news is that Plumber San Jose is on-call 24/7. We always have the solution for your toilet problems in San Jose and Bay Area.

When is replacement necessary?

Do you need professional toilet replacement in the San Jose area? Contact us for help if you notice the following problems:

  • Recurring clogs: If you need to use the plunger on the toilet a few times a month or more, it may be time to consider replacing your toilet.
  • Multiple flushes needed: A toilet should only need one flush to get the job done. If you need to flush several times, contact us for an inspection and we will determine if a replacement is right for you.
  • High water bill: If you have an older, less efficient toilet, you could be wasting hundreds of gallons of water a year from leaks and general wear and tear. Consider a replacement for greater water efficiency.
  • Cracks in bowl or tank: Notice a crack in the bowl or tank of your toilet? Call us right away to install a new fixture. A crack can send a flood of water gushing out when you least expect it.

If you are ready to install a new toilet, we can help. High-efficiency models use less than 1.3 gallons per flush. The best models reduce risk of clogging and have raised seats for comfort. Contact Rayne Plumbing today to learn your options for toilet replacement.

Don’t let a toilet get you down, we are here 24/7 to assist with any toilet problems. Call us at  (408) 716-2395!

Choosing the Right Toilet

Because we use toilets daily, choosing the right toilet is very important. But what is the right toilet for you? The answer to this depends on your style and budget. On the low end toilets could be $75 and on the high end they could up to $2500. We don't recommend going to either extreme. The best thing to do is look at Max Performance (MaP) rating and make sure it has at least 500 grams per 1.6 gallon flush.

Can Toilets Flush Babywipes?

This is one of the greatest debates of all time. But the answer is simple, NO! You should not flush baby wipes down the toilet. If there is any flaw in your sewer system, the wipe will likely not pass. The toilet will surely be able to flush the wipe, but the problem is usually further down the line (sewer line that is). And while, some baby wipe packages advertise that they are flushable, none guarantee it, and therfore you are stuck with the plumbing bill. So why risk it?
